94 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine S erving Dade County Public Schools in Florida for nearly 50 years, Dr. Mona Bethel Jackson is a dedicated figure in the education industry and has been an assistant principal since 1986. Prior to this appointment, she served the school district as a project manager, educational specialist, counselor and science teacher beginning in 1970. Punctuating these assignments, Dr. Jackson was also a mentor principal at Miami Edison Senior High School, principal at Richmond Heights Middle School and liaison principal at Miami Southridge Senior High School. Earlier in her career, she was a curriculumcoordinator for the Perrine Crime Prevention Program in Miami. Drawing upon a Bachelor of Science from Florida A&MUniversity, Master of Education from Florida Atlantic University and EdD from Florida International University, Dr. Jackson has been a certified teacher in the state of Florida since 1969. A presenter at national conferences, she previously served as president of the Dade County Sickle Cell Foundation and the Episcopal Church Women for the Diocese of South Florida. Demonstrating versatility in her profession, she also authored “Focus on Careers” in 1984 and co-authored “Candlelights for Middle School Student’s World” in 2002. A member of the Florida Association of Counseling and Development, Dr. Jackson has served the organization as president, president-elect and convention executive. She is also a past president of the Dade County Personnel and Guidance Association, and past president of the Miami chapter and Beta Alpha chapter of Delta Sigma Theta. In recognition of her exceptional undertakings, Dr. Jackson has accrued numerous accolades. In 2018, she earned a Certificate of Appreciation Award for excellence, outstanding service, commitment and dedication to the community from the Sickle Cell Miami Foundation. Earlier in her career, she received an “In the Company of Women” and Pillars Award for Education from Dade County Public Schools, a Principal Achievement Award for outstanding leadership from the Dade Counseling Association and was named Middle School Administrator of the Year. Likewise, she was highlighted in Who’s Who of AmericanWomen andWho’s Who in the South and Southwest.
