128 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine To achieve that goal, Project 2061 conducts research and develops tools and services that educators, researchers and policymakers can use to make critical and lasting improvements in the nation’s education system. Mr. Stubbs’ legacy is to ensure that all classrooms have a laboratory to conduct experiments and that all teachers are prepared. In light of his exceptional undertakings, Mr. Stubbs has been listed in several editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, Who’s Who in the East and Who’s Who in the World. Likewise, he was highlighted in the third edition of Who’s Who Among Human Service Professionals in 1991. However, he cites a crowning achievement of his 41-year career to be when he pushed to install laboratories in every classroom in the high school science program in the early 1990s. Looking toward the future, he intends to continue making strides with Project 2061 and the AAAS. I mpressed by his many high school teachers, Donald C. Stubbs decided to follow their example and become an educator. Attending the Catholic University of America, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1959 before serving Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School in Brooklyn, New York, as a teacher from 1959 to 1961. From there, he served Bishop Bradley High School in Manchester, New Hampshire, as a teacher from 1961 to 1966 until obtaining a Master of Science in microbiology from his alma mater the same year. After a brief stint as a teacher and science department chair at the LaSalle Military Academy in Oakdale, New York, he commenced his tenure with Ponaganset Regional High School in Glocester, Rhode Island, serving as a chemistry teacher and science department chair from 1969 until his retirement in 2000. In retirement, Mr. Stubbs continues tomaintain involvement with the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and Project 2061. An extension of AAAS, Project 2061 is a long-term initiative to help all Americans become literate in science, mathematics and technology. DONALD C.
