A former consultant and speaker at nursing schools and organizations in such countries as China, Norway, Israel, Brazil, Australia, Japan, Taiwan and the United States, Dr Wolf-Wilets was a National Accreditor and Washington State President for the National League of Nursing, and Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing. In recognition of her outstanding work, Dr. Wolf- Wilets was named to Outstanding Young Women of America and Washington State. The National Council of Higher Education selected her as one of 40 national interns studying University Administration for one year. Her major career focuses were Stress Management, Nursing Curriculum, Research Development of Nursing Diagnosis, Adaptions of Memory Theories, Curriculum Theories, and Psychological Theories to Nursing in both research and publications. She retired in 1999. D r. Vivian C. Wolf-Wilets is a retired Professor of Nursing who spent over 30 years in her profession. She grew up on a Minnesota farm and was encouraged to go into nursing by her mother. She attended North Central College (Pre- Nursing) and did three years of nursing education at Presbyterian St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Chicago, resulting in a Bachelor of Science degree. She received a Master of Arts in curriculum and instruction from the University of Chicago before completing a Post-Master’s in Nursing Fellowship at the University Marquette School of Nursing. She earned a PhD from the University of Chicago in 1969, supported by the National Institutes of Health. Dr Wolf-Wilets began her career at the University ofWashington inSeattle as anassistant professor in 1969. She was promoted to an associate professor in 1974 and to full professor in 1982. She served as Psychosocial Nursing Department Chair for five years. She was also recognized as a one year distinguished visiting professor at the University of California San Francisco. Dr. Wolf-Wilets’ success required her tenacity and ability to persevere throughdifficult situations. She is proud of her students who have also gone on to become prominent professors and clinicians in health care and universities.
