Among the notable highlights of his career, Dr. Dobson is proudest of working for a nonprofit organization that was involved with the Department of Defense in Washington in the 1960s. He was enthralled by the work and research he conducted, which subsequently led him to working with weapons systems analysis for the Pentagon. To remain abreast of developments in the field, Dr. Dobson maintained affiliation with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and Sigma Xi. Married to his wife Noele Dobson for many years, he is the proud father of one son. In his spare time, he enjoys theater, movies, watching his investments and traveling. In light of his exceptional undertakings, Dr. Dobson was featured in several Who’s Who publications, including Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest, and Who’s Who in the World. D r. Donald A. Dobson has been interested in applied mathematics from a young age. As he grew older, his interest manifested into an intrigue in physics and electricity. Noting that engineering utilizes mathematics, he subsequently delved into electrical engineering as a career path. He received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering fromNorthwestern University in 1950, followed by a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from theMassachusetts Institute of Technology in 1951. From there, he returned to Northwestern to obtain a DEng in electrical engineering in 1955. Upon receiving a master’s degree, Dr. Dobson began serving as a research associate at Northwestern University in 1951 and an engineer for Industrial Research Products in 1952. Relocating to New York, he subsequently became a senior engineer for Sperry Gyroscope Co. from 1954 to 1959. During his tenure, he notably served as an instructor of physics at Adelphi University in 1956. As such, he then served as a senior technology specialist at North America Aviation for the following four years prior to beginning his tenure at the Institute for Defense Analyses in Arlington, Virginia, in 1963.
