167 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine receiving a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Chemical Engineering. Five years later, he earned a PhD in chemical engineering and statistics from the Iowa State University of Science and Technology. Retired since 1999, Dr. Hankinson most recently served as a manager of advanced modeling technology in corporate engineering at Phillips Petroleum Company. Previously serving the company as a senior scientist in research and development, manager of architecture and new technologies, andmanager of commercial systems in Phillips 66 Gas and Gas Liquids Department, among other roles, he retired from the company in 1967. During his graduate and doctoral studies, he was an instructor of chemical engineering at his almamaters. Hewas also a Registered Professional Engineer in Oklahoma. Renowned for his achievements, Dr. Hankinson developed and implemented the equations used for theworldwidemeasure standards of petroleum fluids and the widely used COSTALD equation for computing liquid densities of petroleum fluids. He developed both the concept and themathematical model that allowed the simultaneous transmission of liquids and gases from the wells in the Norwegian North Sea to Norway. Early in his career, Dr. Hankinson was an adjunct professor of mathematics at Oklahoma State University and Bartlesville Wesleyan College. He is also an instructor of adult religious education at the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults and a lector of the Roman Catholic Church. A prolific writer, he has authored several award-winning short stories, articles to professional journals and 51 publications and presentations. Dr. Hankinson received an Achievement Award from the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and a Citation for Service from the American Petroleum Institute, as well as being named Outstanding Engineer and Outstanding Young Engineer in Oklahoma. I nterested in chemistry in high school, Dr. Risdon W. “Hank” Hankinson wrote a paper on plastics, deriving his information from du Pont. Asking the company what they do, he received a flood of information on engineering.
