182 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine ENERGY, ENGINEERING AND MANUFACTURING W ith his military background and engineering experience, Thomas A. Carter has the qualities to make for a headstrong career. Mr. Carter graduated from Jones College in 1980 with a Bachelor of Arts and then again in 1982 with a Bachelor of Business Administration. Before he achieved his degrees, however, Mr. Carter was a master chief in the United States Navy from 1954 to 1976 during the Vietnam War. From 1996 to 2005, Mr. Carter was an estimator for an independent mechanical design company. Previously, he was a chief engineer for D.A.M.S., Inc., and the secretary of Blacando Development Corp., both in Orlando, Florida. In the late 1970s, Mr. Carter was also a contract administrator for Red Lobster Restaurants. Mr. Carter is a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, the Armed Forces Top Enlisted Association, the Rafman Club Foundation of Orlando, the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, the National Pinochle Association and the Navy Seabee Veterans of America. Mr. Carter’s advice to those entering his industry is to do not fully rely on new technology; it is important to know how to do the job on your own. Belle Isle, FL I nspired to enter electrical engineering by a mentor who helped him obtain a scholarship to college, Kenneth Earl Bow is an electrical engineer and senior consultant who has been serving as president of Kable Consult LLC since 2004. Previously employed with various branches of the Dow Chemical Co. in Midland, Michigan, he commenced his tenure with the company in 1962 as a special assignment engineer. Ascending the ranks to such positions as senior research engineer, research specialist and senior associate development scientist, he retired from the company in 2004 and began consulting. Mr. Bow draws upon a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Michigan State University, is a patentee in his field and has contributed more than 150 articles to professional journals. He retired as a lieutenant colonel from the U.S. Army after 28 years of service. He is noted for being among the first development scientists at Dow and commercialized various products. Most proud of being elected a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Mr. Bow received numerous IEEE awards, several best paper awards and a number of Army commendations.
