187 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine B randon Scott Brown chose to open his ownbusiness todohis share for the local community and to treat his customers like family. Mr. Brown attributes his success in his heating and air business to his faith in God and the way he was raised. He was raised in a Christian Baptist Church and was always taught to do right and give first. Mr. Brown comes from a large family, so he knew formal education was not in his family’s budget. However, after high school he got an offer from a company that if he worked for them, they would pay for his community college education. Therefore, he attended community college and received an Associate of Arts in career studies, heating and air. The longer Mr. Brown worked for this company, the more he realized he wanted to open his own company, and so in 2006, he opened Browns Heating & Air in Timberlake, Virginia. Browns Heating & Air now has 15 employees and Mr. Brown manages them, as well as all other aspects of the business. His wife Dara serves as vice president of the company. In five years, Mr. Brown would like to see his company expand within the state and offer other services, such as electrical and plumbing. Mr. Brown has put his heart into his company, and his hard work does not go unnoticed. He was the recipient of the 2019 Service Provider of the Year Award from the Central Virginia Business Coalition, and Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration News named him a Top 40 Under 40 Business Owner. Mr. Brown was also named the 2018 Lynchburg Business Young Business Owner of the Year, and his company was named Best HVAC Company in the Lynchburg Living and Lynchburg Business Magazines. Outside of work, Mr. Brown enjoys volunteering for local non-profits and spending time with his two children, Parker and Dawson. He is also a member of the local networking group Connect.
