Hallengren has served as the chairman of Falcon Real Estate Investment Management Ltd. since he formed the company in 1991. Prior to forming Falcon, he served as chief investment officer in private banking international of the Chase Manhattan Bank from 1992 to 1981. He commenced his investment career at The First National Bank of Chicago, where he was chief investment officer between 1970 and 1977. Drawing upon a Bachelor of Arts in English literature, cum laude, from Princeton University as a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, Mr. Hallengren has always had an interest in the stock market and investments. During the 1970s, he was one of the principal opponents of the then popular investment philosophy of buying the “Nifty Fifty” – the stocks of the leading companies in the United States – no matter how high their price. When the market for these stocks collapsed, Business Week magazine wrote an article about him saying that he had been “vindicated.” He cites this as one of the highlights of his career. In his spare time, Mr. Hallengren enjoys helping at the Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago, where he received an award for his support in 2019. He has also assisted Music Theater Works of Wilmette, Illinois. Proficient at writing, he authored a novel titled “Reminiscences of an Accidental Embezzler” in 2016, drawing upon an actual experience at Chase Private Banking. Looking toward the future, Mr. Hallengren intends to continue his active interest in the stock market and writing fictional novels. He also desires to remain involved with charitable organizations.
