Mr. Weiss is the recipient of a Bachelor of Arts from Marquette University and a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. A chartered financial analyst and chartered investment counselor, he is a former 12-year consultant to the investment committee of Coverys in Boston. Likewise, he has been a consultant on financial and investment matters to print media, television and radio, including “Wall $treet Week” with Louis Rukeyser. As a testament to his success, Mr. Weiss received the National Service Award from Marquette University in 1995. He has also been listed in several prominent Who’s Who publications. A former financial analyst and senior portfolio manager at Segall Bryant & Hamill in Chicago, James Michael Weiss retired in 2017 after serving in his positions for two years. Drawing upon 45 years of experience in financial analysis and security, he notes his greatest achievement in business was his ability to develop strong relationships with his clients in not only financial security, but also in advising on a number of topics over a long period. Maintaining relationships with some of his clients for over 20 years, he has created a stable client base, and thus, has been able to attract new business for his firms and for himself. Most importantly, his relationshipwith his clients was beneficial for the client themselves. At the inception of his career in 1972, Mr. Weiss served Stein Roe & Farnham Investment Counsel in Chicago as partner and senior portfolio manager. Subsequently serving the firm as first vice president, principal and senior vice president until his departure in 1992, he then served IDS Advisory Group, Inc., in Minneapolis as executive vice president and senior portfolio manager for two years and IDS Equity Advisors as president and chief investment officer for one year.
