Drawing upon an MD from VCU and past experience as an orthopedic consultant for the Society of Sports Therapy in the United Kingdom, Dr. Loughran is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and is licensed to practice medicine in Virginia. Amassing more than 40 years of experience in his profession, he remains abreast of developments in the field through his affiliation with the American Academy of Sports Medicine, the American Orthopedic Society of Sports Medicine and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. In the formative stages of his life, Dr. Loughran sustained an Achilles tendon injury while playing basketball. Receiving excellent care from an orthopedic surgeon, he was subsequently inspired to pursue the same path. As a testament to his success, he was named Clinical Physician of the Year by MCV Hospital and a “Top Doc” in Sports Medicine in Richmond, Virginia.
