Stanton is an attorney who most recently served in his private practice, Roger D. Stanton Attorney at Law, from 2005 until his retirement in 2012. At the inception of his career in 1963, he was an associate with Stanley, Schroeder, Weeks, Thomas & Lysaught for five years before becoming a partner at Weeks, Thomas & Lysaught from 1969 to 1981. During this time, he was also chair of the executive committee and sat on the board of directors for one year. From 1983 to 1996, Mr. Stanton served as partner with Stinson, Mag & Fizzell (now known as Stinson Leonard Street LLP), having during this time also been chair of the products practice group from 1993 to 1995. Soon thereafter, he served as partner in the litigation practice for Berkowitz Feldmiller Stanton Brandt Williams & Shaw LLP from 1997 to 2005 prior to establishing his own firm. To prepare for his career, Mr. Stanton earned a Bachelor of Arts and JD from the University of Kansas in 1960 and 1963, respectively. Admitted to practice law in the state of Kansas, he was also admitted before the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States. Notably, he is a fellow of the American Bar Foundation and the American College of Trial Lawyers. A contributor of articles to esteemed legal journals, Mr. Stanton is the past chairman of the board of editors of the Kansas Bar Association. To remain abreast of developments in the field, he has maintained affiliation with the 10th Circuit Historical Society, the Earl E. O’Conner Inn of Court, the Kansas Association of Defense Counsel and the Johnson County Bar Association, among many others. Likewise, he is the former president of both the Johnson County Bar Foundation and Kansas Bar Association. Married for more than 55 years to Judith L.
