352 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine L inda Menard Post was inspired to become a leader after serving the Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District as a school board member from 1996 to 2007. Equipped with a business background in light of her involvement with her husband’s dental practices, she went on to serve District G of the Alaska State Senate as a legislator in 2009, becoming the first husband and wife team in the history of Alaska to be elected. She held the post for four years, retiring in 2013. Prior to becoming a senator, Ms. Menard Post served the Alaska Job Corps as a substitute teacher, All I Saw Cookware as founder and owner, Mrs. Alaska Pageant Franchise as owner for one year, and Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District as a teacher. She has also been a judge and was a local director of several Miss Alaska events. Equally passionate about civic endeavors, she was the founder of the Matanuska-Susitna Schools Foundation and a charter member of the Matanuska-Susitna Convention and Visitors Bureau. Previously, she was vice chair and interim director of the Matanuska-Susitna Health Foundation and charter member and vice chair of the Wasilla Chamber of Commerce. She is currently a secretary of Family Centered Services, Inc., and of theMatanuska Electric Association Charitable Foundation. Ms. Menard Post has held a BA in elementary education from the University of Alaska since 1975. She enjoys her memberships with the Salvation Army, the Palmer Chamber of Commerce and the Palmer Rotary. However, she notes the highlights of her career have been representing the state of Alaska as senator, raising her children and giving back to her community. Ms. Menard Post was named a Champion for Children in 2007 and Citizen of the Year by the Wasilla Chamber of Commerce in 1999. She received the Henry Jall Fellowship Award, First Lady’s Volunteer Award and the State of Alaska Volunteer of the Year Award fromErmalee Hickel, the wife of Governor Wally Hickel. Her husband and high school sweetheart, Dr. Curt Menard, was Matanuska Borough Mayor, resulting in Ms. Menard Post being named First Lady. Ms. Menard Post is extremely gregarious and, therefore, connects well with other people.
