12 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine A t the inception of her career in 1967, Karen Karl Moraitis worked as a welfare worker in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Soon becoming a guidance counselor at Broward County Public Schools from 1968 to 1970, she soon ascended the ranks to an adjunct faculty member at Florida Atlantic University from 1971 to 1974. Soon pursuing the field of real estate due to her interest in negotiations, she served as a real estate associate at Blackwell Realty from 1976 to 1977 before opening up her own office, Karen Moraitis Realty, Inc., in 1978. During this time, she became a certified real estate broker in the state of Florida, retiring in 2018 after amassing 42 years in the real estate industry. Ms. Moraitis holds a Bachelor of Science in advertising from the University of Florida and a Master of Education and Specialist in Education degree from Florida Atlantic University. Immensely proud of obtaining degrees, she also pursued doctoral coursework. Passionate about her local community and children’s school districts, she has sat on the board of directors of the Sunrise Intracoastal Homeowners Association since 1996, and has been a scholarship partner of Gator Boosters since 1983 and member of the president’s council of the University of Florida since 1980. During her children’s years in school, she was also involved in the parent- teacher student organization at Fort Lauderdale High School from 1985 to 1991, often holding the position of president. Previously working for the U.S. Navy, Ms. Moraitis is part of the Navy League and the U.S. Naval Academy Tecumseh Club. In addition, she has maintained affiliation with the Humane Society of Broward County, the Florida Association of Realtors, the National Association of Realtors, and the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame, where she sat on the board of directors of the Brian Piccolo chapter from 1992 to 1996. In light of her outstanding contributions to her fields, Ms. Moraitis was selected for inclusion in Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest, and Who’s Who of American Women.
