After gaining prominence in his field, he returned to college at the University of Illinois at Chicago, obtaining a Master of Arts in political science in 2003. Passionate about teaching individuals about the world around them, Mr. Beary has always had an innate ability of providing people with the tools they need to understand and cope with the world. He cites the stories he has covered during his tenure in journalism as ultimate career highlights, particularly one case where he covered a school shooting in Winnetka, Illinois. As a testament to his success, Mr. Beary received the Peter Lisagor Award for Exemplary Journalism in 1994. He has also been featured in the 61 st edition of Who’s Who in America, published in 2006. W ith more than 35 years of experience to his credit, Jack Beary is an accomplished journalist, educator, and county and city official. Since 2006, he has served as an adjunct instructor at St. Petersburg College, having previously served the same role from 2004 to 2005. Punctuating these appointments, he was an adjunct instructor at Pasco-Hernando State College from 2005 to 2006. Earlier in his career, Mr. Beary served the City of Chicago as a public information officer, the Cook County Board as press secretary in the President’s Office and the Cook County Government as a public information officer. At the inception of his career in 1982, he was an assignment editor for WBBM-TV at CBS in Chicago for three years and a reporter for United Press International in Chicago for five years. Mr. Beary has been interested in journalism from a formative age.
