31 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine A versatile figure in the field of graphic design, Richmond Addison Jones has been the owner and graphic designer of Richmond A. Jones Graphics in Chicago since 1970. Renowned in his profession, he recently had 30 years of his graphic design work inducted into the archives of the special collections department of the University of Illinois at Chicago Richard J. Daley Library in 2009. Prior to commencing his own company, he served Fuller, Smith & Ross, Inc., and J. Walter Thompson Co. in New York as an art director, as well as Jones, James & Jameson, Inc., as president. At the inception of his career in 1961, he was an assistant and associate art director at Batten, Barton, Durstine & Osborn, Inc., for five years. A past student of the University of Illinois at Chicago and Urbana- Champaign, Mr. Jones earned diplomas from the American Academy of Art in Chicago and the School of Visual Arts in New York. Alongside his graphic design work, he is a prominent watercolor painter and has won watercolor painting awards from societies nationwide. He is also represented by a number of recognized galleries across the United States. Previously serving in the U.S. Army, he was discharged at the rank of sergeant in 1968 and received a Letter of Commendation in recognition of his service. To remain abreast of developments in his areas of interest, Mr. Jones maintains affiliation with the American Institute of Graphic Arts, the National Watercolor Society, the Illinois Watercolor Society and the Society of Typographic Arts, where he sat on their board of directors from 1972 to 1974. He was also the founder and vice president of the Group for Advertising Progress from 1966 to 1970. Married to his wife Christine Ann Osada, Mr. Jones is the proud father of one son, Philip Frederick. He enjoys photography, reading and model building in his spare time. As a testament to his achievements, he was highlighted in the 72 nd edition of Who’s Who in America in 2019, as well as in several editions of Who’s Who in Entertainment, Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who in the Midwest.
