296 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine S erving the law firm Barnes & Thornburg for the entirety of his career, William John Reinke retired in 1996 as of counsel with the firm. At the inception of his career in 1957, he was an associate in South Bend, Indiana, remaining in the role for four years. From there, he became a partner and excelled in the position for 35 years. During his tenure, he also sat as chairman of the compensation committee and member of the management committee. Drawing upon a BA, cum laude, from Wabash College and JD from the University of Chicago, Mr. Reinke was admitted to practice law in Indiana in 1955. He was a trustee and president of the Stanley Clark School, president and board of directors member of the NABE Michigan chapter of the Salvation Army, and president and board of directors member of the Isaac Walton League. A past member of the United Way, Mr. Reinke also served as president of the South Bend Round Table and the South Bend Jaycees, two terms as trustee of the First United Methodist Church and its board of directors, and as member of the South Bend Civic Theatre and its board of directors. He was one of four co-founders of The Summit Club and served on its board of directors. To remain abreast of developments in law, Mr. Reinke maintains affiliation with the American Bar Association, Indiana State Bar Association, St. Joseph County Bar Association and American Judicature Society. A former two-time board of directors member of Rotary International, he is also a patron fellow of the Indiana State Bar Foundation. As a testament to his longevity in the field, Mr. Reinke was the recipient of the Outstanding Local President Award from the Indiana Jaycees, its Boss of the Year Award and the Wabash College Richard O. Ristine Award. He was named South Bend Outstanding Young Man of the Year and a life patron fellow by the St. Joseph County Bar Foundation. Married to his wife Elizabeth Beck Lockwood since 1991, Mr. Reinke is the proud father of three, grandfather of four and great-grandfather of four.
