308 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine A lways possessing an interest in science and mathematics, Dr. Mona Dickson Jensen pursued her scientific career partly for her mother, who chose to sacrifice her studies to raise her daughter. Dr. Jensen received a BS from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1966, a PhD fromCornell University in 1973 and anMBA fromBabson College in 1983. Today, her achievements include twopatents; thedevelopment of numerous clinical assay reagents in general chemistry, immunochemistry and coagulation in human and veterinary medicine; and pioneering research on environmental control and cell culture. Prior to her retirement in 2012, Dr. Jensen was the co-founder and president of Jensen Craft Enterprises beginning in 1998. From 2001 to 2012, she also worked at IDEXXLaboratory, Inc., as amanager of veterinary clinical chemistry R&D, R&D manager and research scientist. In the 1990s, she was an R&D manager at a Boston-based start-up company, and spent 1972 to 1996 at the Instrumentation Laboratory in Lexington, Massachusetts. There, she moved up from senior scientist to project manager, manager of reagent systems applications, senior research and development manager, and scientific support and applications manager of clinical chemical strategic business. Throughout her career, Dr. Jensen’s highlight has been achieving such a high level in her corporate career, as it was uncommon for women to hold such high positions at the time. What she has learned as a professional in her field is that managing people is incomparable to managing research. A grantee of the World Health Organization in 1980 and 1981, Dr. Jensen was also an adjunct faculty at the W. Alton Jones Cell Science Center in Lake Placid, New York, from 1974 to 1976. She was also a proposal reviewer for the National Science Foundation and sub-communications advisor at the National Committee Clinical Laboratory Standards.
