137 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine D r. Richard Boyd has had a thriving career in education and research in astrophysics, particle physics and astrobiology. He holds BSE degrees in physics andmathematics from the University of Michigan and a PhD from the University of Minnesota. A professor emeritus of physics and astronomy at The Ohio State University, Dr. Boyd previously served Ohio State as associate dean and associate professor. He has also taught at the University of Rochester and worked at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and the National Science Foundation. In his early years, Dr. Boyd held postdoctoral appointments at Stanford University; Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey; and the University of Minnesota. As a testament to his success, Dr. Boyd earned a Distinguished Research Award from Ohio State and was presented with fellowships from the American Physical Society, the American Association for the Advancement of Science and RIKEN in Tokyo, Japan. He has authored “An Introduction to Nuclear Astrophysics,” as well as two books on astrobiology, “Stardust, Supernovae and the Molecules of Life” and “Creating the Molecules of Life.” Other works include “Artificial Intelligence, Mankind at the Brink” and “Prairie Renaissance.” PROFESSOR EMERITUS The Ohio State University Windsor, CA D r. Edra Charlotte Bogle received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Northern Iowa in 1956 and a Master of Library Science from Columbia University in 1957. In 1968, she obtained a PhD in Comparative Literature from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles. Dr. Bogle most recently served as the secretary of Faculty Senate and associate professor at the University of North Texas in Denton from 1968 to 1994, and she was also a coordinator of women’s studies prior to her retirement. Additionally, she was the Denton County Democratic Chair from 2003 to 2006. She has also been a librarian at the Oregon College of Education (now Western Oregon University), Frostburg State Teachers College (Now Frostburg State University) and the University of Southern California during the 1950s and 1960s. In addition to her profession, Dr. Bogle was an indexer for “Annual Bibliography of English Language and Literature” from 1972 to 1984 and was an associate editor of the third edition of Halkett & Laing’s “Dictionary of Anonymous and Pseudonymous Works” in 1980. Dr. Bogle was a long-term member of the Science Fiction Research Association and the Modern Language Association.
