156 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine the early 1950s, Mr. Kok was a design engineer at the Lummus Corporation. For his exceptional engineering abilities and dedication to the industry, Mr. Kok was the first place award winner of the James F. Lincoln Arc Welding Foundation in 1966. On top of his extensive work in the office, Mr. Kok is a contributor of numerous articles to professional journals worldwide. Mr. Kok is a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, New York State Society of Professional Engineers, American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers, American Mining Congress and the American Management Association. He also serves as chairman of the Materials Handling Committee for the Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers and is a fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers. In 1976, Mr. Kok was chairman of the executive committee for the Council of Engineering Laws. H ans Kok always had an interest in the way things worked and pursued education in engineering to feed his curiosity. In 1950, Mr. Kok received an engineering degree from an engineering sciences school, Technische Hochschule, in Aachen, Germany. He was previously a student at the Suderburg Engineering College from 1940 to 1942 and the Hamburg Engineering College from 1945 to 1946. Upon pursuing a career across the Atlantic Ocean, Mr. Kok became a registered professional engineer in the states of New York, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Michigan, California, Florida, New Jersey, Arizona and Maryland. A former consultant, Mr. Kok was president of Treadwell Corporation Michigan, Inc., from 1974 to 1983. Between 1973 and 1983, Mr. Kok simultaneously served as director of BassetMiller Treadwell Ltd. and vice president of the plant design and engineering division of the Treadwell Corporation in NewYork City. Additionally, Mr. Kok served as assistant vice president of engineering andmanager of the plant design division at the Treadwell Corporation from 1963 to 1973. He also performed the jobs of chief structural engineer, head of the structural engineering section and structural engineer at M.H. Treadwell Corporation from 1953 to 1963.
