Weiner Award from the Society for Social Work Leadership in Health Care in 2006, having previously been nominated by the organization as Social Work Director of the Year. In 1989, she was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal from Columbia University. In addition to her achievements, Ms. Matorin has authored numerous works, including “Thriving at 70 and Beyond,” “Social Workers: Finding Solutions For Real Problems,” “Clutter is in the Eye of the Beholder” and “Finding Joy in Social Work,” among others. Ms. Matorin is a member of the National Association of Social Workers, the Academy of Certified Social Workers and the Health Care Chaplaincy Network. Additionally, she was the New York chapter program co-chair of the Society for Social Work Leadership in Health Care, on the board of trustees for the Martha K. Selig Educational Institute, and a fellow of the American Orthopsychiatric Association. S usan Matorin received a Bachelor of Arts from Vassar College in 1964 and completed postgraduate work at the Columbia School of Social Work in 1966. She is now a licensed clinical social worker in the state of New York and puts her knowledge to work as senior lecturer of social work in psychiatry and as treatment coordinator for the affective disorder team at in the Department of Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medicine. Ms. Matorin began her career in 1966 as the chief of social work for the Washington Heights Community Service of the New York State Psychiatric Institute. In 1977, she was an adjunct associate professor at the Columbia School of Social Work, and from 1978 to 1997, she worked at the New York Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center. For four years, she served as chief ambulatory of social work in psychiatry, and for the next 16 years, she was director of social work at the Payne Whitney Clinic. From 1997 to 2000, Ms. Matorin served as program director of the Cornell Psychiatry Intensive Outpatient Program.
