243 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine a concentration in sport, cum laude, from Robert Morris University in 2013 and an MS in rehabilitation and mental health counseling from the University of Pittsburgh in 2017. Since 2018, Ms. Salerno has been a behavioral health therapist at the Center for Eating Disorders at the UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital. Ms. Salerno has also been a mental training consultant with KPEX Consulting since 2016 and a standardized patient in the department of nursing at Robert Morris University since 2010. From 2015 to 2017, she was a rehabilitation specialist at the Hiram G. Andrews Center. Since 2009, Ms. Salerno has also been a professional dancer with Gia T. Presents, Bodiography Contemporary Ballet Company, Pittsburgh Musical Theater, Holland America Cruise Lines, and RWS & Associates. Additionally, she was a volunteer ballroom dance instructor for individuals with multiple sclerosis at Yes You Can Dance! from 2015 to 2017. Ms. Salerno says the most rewarding part of her profession is being able to work with a population that struggles with eating disorders and witnessing them take control of the disorder. Seeing them improve and work towards making conscious decisions is the greatest outcome of her work. For her dedication to her passions across all mediums, Ms. Salerno was the recipient of the Making A Difference Award from the UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital in 2018. Honored to be granted this award so early on in her career, Ms. Salerno calls this achievement her career highlight. She attributes her success to her mentors Joshua Hefferen, Tiffany Painter, Dr. Aimee Kimball and Dr. Leigh Skavarla. In five years’ time, she anticipates a larger outpatient case load and sees herself running her own outpatient office in the years to come. A lexandra Salerno felt she could not decide on a career between her two passions: psychology and dance. In an effort to merge the two, she decided to delve into the field of mental health care, noting that eating disorders specifically are common among athletes and dancers.
