247 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine D r. E. Dorinda Shelley received a BA from Mount Holyoke College in 1962 and an MD from the University of Missouri in 1966. From 1966 to 1967, she interned at Saint Luke’s Hospital in St. Louis and completed her residency in dermatology at the University of Missouri in 1970. Thereafter, she was a postdoctoral fellow at Stanford University from 1970 to 1971. Certified by the American Board of Dermatology in 1971, Dr. Shelley has served as a clinical professor of dermatology at the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences since 1997, where she also served as a professor and chief of dermatology. She also spent five years as professor and chair of dermatology at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria. Previously affiliated with the University of Illinois at Chicago, she was an associate professor from 1975 to 1978 and an assistant professor of dermatology from 1974 to 1975. Among the highlights of her career, Dr. Shelley is proudest of when she and her dermatologist husband, Dr. Walter B. Shelley, produced a professional and personal diary titled “Portrait of a Practice” in the medical journal Cutis between 1990 and 1995. The diary chronicled the couple’s dermatology practice and home life with their three children, totaling to nearly 30 typewritten pages monthly. Dr. Shelley is a children’s book author as well, having written “Dasher and the Sleigh-Train” in 2019, which is being made into a Warner Brothers movie, and three books in the Helium series; edited two art books, “Earl W. North, American Landscape Painter” and Bernadine Stetzel’s “Our Town”; and co-authored with her husband “Advanced Dermatological Therapy,” two editions, “A Century of International Dermatological Congresses,” “Advanced Dermatologic Diagnosis,” “Shelley’s 77 Skins: A Refresher Course for Doctors, Nurses and Students” and “Consultations in Dermatology.” For her work, Dr. Shelley was the recipient of the 2012 Walter B. Shelley MD Leadership Award and the 2007 Rose Hirschler Award, both from theWomen’s Dermatologic Society, of which she is a former president. In 2009, she was named an honorary member of the American Academy of Dermatology. E.
