259 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine A ndrew J. Brewer found his niche in golf at the age of 15. At Carver High School, he played football, baseball and basketball, but started playing golf when his friends became golf caddies. It took some time for him to find his path in the golf world, but along the way, he was renowned in every step he took. Mr. Brewer served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960 while working at Carroll Publishing. In 1962, he moved to New York and worked as a driving instructor from 1969 to 1970. He then went to college and earned an electronics and television technician certificate from The Delehanty Institute in 1968. Mr. Brewer served the New York City Transit Authority as a bus operator for 21 years until his retirement in 1999. Upon moving west, Mr. Brewer embraced his true passion – golf. Utilizing his love for the sport to aid in his unequivocal passion for public service, Mr. Brewer was the owner and president of Andy B. Golf and staged successful golf tournaments in Southern Nevada from 2012 to 2018. The company endeavors to provide funding for college scholarships through support from fellow golfers, celebrities and vacationers. Mr. Brewer always felt a connection to working with children and takes prides in knowing he contributes to bettering the life of deserving young people. Mr. Brewer is also a travel writer for the African American Golfer’s Digest and covered Michael Jordan in Las Vegas and the American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe South. Mr. Brewer is a Multi-Ethnic Sports Hall of Fame inductee and recipient of their Community Service/Golf Support Award. He is also the founder and first club champion of the Las Vegas Birdies Golf Club and former president of the Friday Night Double Bowling Club. He says the highlight of his career was attending the Centennial of the NAACP, where he met Rosa Parks and Barack Obama, as well as many prominent civil rights advocates.
