273 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine F or as long as he could remember, Thomas Anthony Jaconetty aspired to public service. Despite its challenges, he hopes his career positively impacted others. Earning a Bachelor of Arts Honors degree in both history andpolitical science, summa cum laude, fromLoyolaUniversity Chicago in 1975 and JD from Northwestern University in 1978, he was admitted to the Illinois Bar and has practiced law in Chicago since 1979. From 2010 until government retirement in 2018, he was Deputy Assessor of Valuation and Appeals for Cook County. For 30 years prior, he served in the Cook County Board of Review as an administrative assistant, deputy commissioner, court-appointed commissioner, chief deputy commissioner, and first assistant commissioner. Previously, he was assistant corporation counsel in Chicago’s Law Department in 1980 and administrative assistant in its Aviation Department in 1979. Mr. Jaconetty is an adjunct professor at UIC John Marshall Law School and a certified review appraiser and valuation consultant. Mr. Jaconetty’s experience and service have been recognized. Co-recipient with his wife Judith of the Chicago Archdiocese Christi fidelis (2014), and ReginaDominicanHighSchoolMartinDePorres (2010) andReginaCaeli (2017) Awards, he was twice Man of the Year of the Polish and American Citizens Club. The International Association of Assessing Officers has conferred seven service citations, its Donehoo (1996) and Member of the Year (2006) Awards, and named hima Fellow (2018). He was the Lawrence Lasser Judge of the Year of the National Conference of State Tax Judges (2005). Research and writing are a large part of a lawyer’s job. Mr. Jaconetty has published 19 articles, including authoring or editing election, state and local taxation, and assessment publications. He has sat on the boards of Regina Dominican since 2009 and Weber Alumni since 2017. His professional memberships include the American, Illinois State, and Chicago Bar Associations, Justinian Society, Advocates Society, and Northwestern Law and Loyola University Alumni Associations. A moderator or presenter at over 150 professional appearances in 30 U.S. and Canadian cities, he regularly judges moot court competitions and mentors high school history students.
