283 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine P eter C. Richter has always had an innate sense of right and wrong, and the justice system seemed like the perfect fit for his interests. Mr. Richter graduated from the University of Oregon with a BS in 1967 and a JD in 1971. He also served with the Oregon Army National Guard from 1967 to 1975. For more than 40 years, Mr. Richter has been a partner at Miller Nash Graham & Dunn in Portland, where he has helped hundreds of clients resolve legal problems through negotiation, mediation, arbitration and primarily jury trials. Additionally, Mr. Richter has been an adjunct professor of law trial advocacy at the Northwestern School of Law at Lewis and Clark College since 1986, and co-founder and lecturer of the Oregon State Bar’s annual Trial Advocacy College. Prior to his current roles, Mr. Richter was an associate at Miller Nash LLP and Veatch, Lovett & Stiner in the 1970s. Mr. Richter’s cases have involved numerous legal issues in contracts, business and tort law, including construction, securities, antitrust, probate and trust, real estate, insurance, personal injury, franchise, banking, partnership, creditors’ rights, labor, land use and timber law. For his excellent work throughout his career, Mr. Richter was the recipient of a Certificate of Appreciation from the Northwestern Law School in 1990 and numerous Judicial Excellence Awards from Martindale-Hubbell. Mr. Richter has also been named One of Ten Best Litigators in Oregon by the National Bar Journal, Top 50 Super Lawyer in Oregon and Top Lawyer in Real Estate Litigation. He has also been named in Chambers’ America’s Leading Lawyers for Business Litigation for 12 years. Mr. Richter is a member of the American Bar Association, Federal Bar Association, American Board of Trial Advocates, Oregon State Bar, Multnomah Bar Association, Oregon Association of Defense Counsel, Inns of Court, Multnomah Athletic Club and International Academy of Trial Lawyers. One of his career highlights was when a California trial judge commented that he was one of the best lawyers he had seen in court, and put the comment in writing. PETER C.
