When Patton Boggs, the leading political firm in Washington, D.C., sought a presence in the Northeast, Mr. Tyrrell led 50 colleagues in opening New York and New Jersey offices. He became a member of Patton Boggs’ Executive Committee, Regional Managing Partner of both offices, and Global Chair of the Product Liability andMass Tort practice. Competing against the top 30 mass tort law firms in the country, Mr. Tyrrell was chosen to lead the defense of the City of New York (and 150 additional clients) in 13,000 lawsuits alleging injury from the cleanup following the 9/11 attacks. Appointed by the Court as liaison counsel, Mr. Tyrrell became the spokesperson for more than 500 defendants in the highest profile mass tort litigation of the century.
