53 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine ARTS, MEDIA AND ENTERTAINMENT F rom her experimentation with acrylics, oils and watercolors, the late Dolores Whitelaw knew from a young age that she had a talent for art. In an effort to further her artistic abilities and glean inspiration from others with a creative passion much like herself, she studied at the Newark School of Fine and Industrial Art and was a student at the Art Students League of New York. Between 1996 and 2008, Ms. Whitelaw was featured in numerous group shows and one-woman shows, where she featured her artistic works. Most recently, her work was featured at the Sueanne Shirzay Gallery on Island Park in 2007 and 2008. In 1998, she was featured at the Westbeth Gallery and La MaMa La Galleria, and in 1997, her work was displayed at JCB International and the Carole Franklin Gallery. In 1996 and 2004, Ms. Whitelaw spearheaded one- woman shows at the E3 Gallery in New York, and in 1998 and 2005, she was featured at Les Malamut Art Gallery in Union, New Jersey. Ms. Whitelaw was a member of the Organization of Independent Artists and City Without Walls, an urban gallery of emerging art that advances the careers of artists while building audiences for contemporary art. Ms. Whitelaw said that she derived much of her artistic inspiration from her father, who was a radio operator on a Navy ship in the Pacific Ocean during World War II. He would consistently draw and send his drawings home to her. Ms. Whitelaw will be remembered by her husband, children and grandchildren as a passionate artist and gentle matriarch.
