For Dr. Lee’s philanthropic efforts to the Oakland community, former Mayor Jerry Brown proclaimed March 5, 2004 as Dr. Jong Lee Day. Additionally, Dr. Lee firmly believes that small businesses have an obligation to be involved in their communities. He has shown this through his role as commissioner for the California State Office of Economic Opportunity, the San Francisco Asian Art Museum, and the Economic Development Commission for the City of Oakland. Dr. Lee is also a National Tax Practice Institute (NTPI) fellow who is an expert in representation before the IRS. Dr. Lee and his team have represented countless taxpayers who face financial hardship with tax liability before the Franchise Tax Board and the IRS. With the support of his team, Dr. Lee has been serving many clients for their tax planning and return, but also could extend his services to those who want to minimize their tax burden. A ccording to Dr. Jong Lee, accounting is the forefront of a business, and decisions are made based on accounting production and accountability. Thought like a true accountant, Dr. Lee is the founder and president of The Lee Accountancy Group based in Oakland, California. After several years of working in local accounting firms, Dr. Lee spearheaded his company, first called J.H. Lee Accountancy Corporation, in 1977. Dr. Lee’s vision was to build an accounting firm that served all of their clients’ financial needs for individuals, nonprofits and small-to-medium sized businesses. Dr. Lee obtained a MBA from Golden Gate University and a Doctor of Business Administration in management from Argosy University. Dr. Lee always valued education, and as his career continued, he took up teaching courses at the collegiate level. A certified public accountant, Dr. Lee is also an experienced business coach and seminar leader, excelling in cross-cultural business training and teaching certified programs. Dr. Lee is proud of his company’s success, but he believes success also comes from giving back to the community. Dr. Lee works closely with the Hunger Program Project, where he and his group served 2,500 homeless and low income DR.
