R obert Charles Savage received a BBA from the University of Toledo in 1959. Earlier that year, he and his older brother, John, co-founded Savage & Associates, which today is the dominant investment, insurance and financial planning firm in northwestern Ohio. He served as executive vice president, president and chief executive officer, and today serves as chairman emeritus. In 1999, he was inducted into the GAMA Hall of Fame. At age 25, Mr. Savage was elected at large to the Toledo City Council, served six years and was vice mayor of Toledo. In 1965, he was named Outstanding Young Man of the Year. He served on the boards of the University of Toledo, University of Toledo Foundation, Bowling Green State University and the Toledo Area Chamber of Commerce. Additionally, he served on the board of directors of such companies as FirstEnergy, Centerior Energy Corp., Cedar Fair, and Solar Cells, Inc. Mr. Savage led the drive to build the $18 million College of Business of the University of Toledo, titled the Savage & Associates Complex for Business Learning and Engagement.
