78 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine W ith a strong interest in public and economic affairs, Dr. W. Robert Brazelton obtained a PhD in economics and finance from the University of Oklahoma in 1961. He also received an MA in economics from the University of Oklahoma in 1960 and a BA in economics from Dartmouth University in 1956. A distinguished professional in his field, Dr. Brazelton has traveled internationally and lectured in Italy, Albania and what formerly was Yugoslavia. Dr. Brazelton has had a riveting career as a professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City for nearly 40 years, and after his retirement in 1999, he was named professor emeritus. Prior to his tenure in Missouri, Dr. Brazelton was an assistant professor at Kansas State University and an instructor at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The highlight of Dr. Brazelton’s career was his research into post-Keynesian economics and early works in Soviet economics. Dr. Brazelton also holds a great interest in economic policy during the career of Leon H. Keyserling, who helped draft major pieces of the Fair Deal legislation and advised President Harry S. Truman as head of the Council of Economic Advisers. Since his retirement, Dr. Brazelton has authored numerous works, including “U.S. Economic Policy: An Analytical Biography of Leon H. Keyserling” and “Alternate Paradigm in Economics.” He was the editor of the Southwestern Journal of Economic Abstracts from 1979 to 1989 and the editorial review board chairman for the Journal of Economics in 1988. Dr. Brazelton has also contributed articles to various professional journals and wrote a chapter in a Spanish book on economic policy called “Economica.” Dr. Brazelton is amember of the American Economic Association, Missouri Valley Economic Association, Central Slavic Association, Midwest Economic Association, Southwest Economic Association and the Association for Comparative Economics. Additionally, he sat on the board of directors for the Omicron Delta Epsilon fraternity for economics. The advice that Dr. Brazelton can offer the next generation aspiring to work in his profession is to continue research in order to keep up with the current world problems. W.
