93 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine residency at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center between 1960 and 1963. Additionally, he was with the U.S. Army and the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research. Right out of medical school, Dr. Grossman began teaching at the college level. From 1963 to 1980, he was an instructor, associate professor and professor of neurological surgery at the University of Southwestern Texas Medical School, the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He was also a professor, chair of the department of neurosurgery and associate dean of clinical affairs at the Baylor College of Medicine from 1980 to 2005. Dr. Grossman served as director of the Neurological Institute and chairman of the department of neurology at Houston Methodist Hospital from 2005 to 2013. He has served in an academic practice on medicine, where he specializes in neurological surgery, since 1963. Dr. Grossman has dedicated his life to neurosurgery and has been recognized for his contributions to the field. He was the recipient of the Cushing Medal from the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Albert and Ellen Grass Foundation Prize and Medal from the Society of Neurological Surgeons, where he served as president in 1995. Additionally, he was chairman of the board of directors of the American Board of Neurological Surgery from 1989 to 1990, president of the American Epilepsy Society in 1982 and president of the Society of University Neurosurgeons in 1980. Dr. Grossman is currently a member of the American College of Surgeons and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, and vice president of American Academy of Neurological Surgery. Out of all of his achievements, he is most proud of the 100-plus residents whom he trained in neurosurgery. D r. Robert G. Grossman was inspired to pursue a career in the medical field by his father, who was a general practitioner, and his mother, a teacher. He received a Bachelor of Arts from Swarthmore College in 1953 and MD from the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University in 1957. He completed his DR. ROBERT G.
