145 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine W ith a career in education and anthropology, Dr. Louise Lamphere taught at the University of New Mexico from 1976 to 1979 and 1986 to 2009, becoming a distinguished professor of anthropology in 2001 and Emerita Professor in 2009. She previously taught at the University of Rochester, Brown University and UC Berkeley. Dr. Lamphere co-authored, withMichelle Zimbalist Rosaldo, “Women, Culture and Society,” one of the two important collections that launched the 1970s resurgence of feminist anthropology. She has published seven other books on Navajo kinship and cooperation, working mothers, immigration and women’s lives. She was president of the American Anthropological Association from 1999 to 2001, following on her leadership as President of the American Ethnological Association and Chair of the Association for Feminist Anthropology. Dr. Lamphere received a BA from Stanford University and an MA and PhD from Harvard University. In 2015, she was awarded an honorary LHD from Brown University. She won the Malinowski Award from the Society of Applied Anthropology and the Franz Boas Award from the American Anthropological Association. Both are the highest awards given by these two organizations. DISTINGUISHED PROFESSOR OF ANTHROPOLOGY EMERITUS University of New Mexico Albuquerque, NM D r. James C. Klotter has built his career upon historical research and education. Since 1986, he has served as the state historian of Kentucky. Previously, Dr. Klotter served the Kentucky Historical Society in several positions from 1973 to 1998, including as executive director, assistant director, general editor, managing editor, assistant editor and research analyst. Retiring from the Society in 1998, he served as a professor of history at Georgetown College for two decades until attaining emeritus status in 2018. Dr. Klotter received a BA in 1968, MA in 1969 and PhD in 1975, all from the University of Kentucky. He also earned two honorary degrees, a DHL from Eastern Kentucky University and a DLitt from Union College. From 1994 to 2007, Dr. Klotter was the president of the Kentucky Civil War Roundtable. He is a member of the Southern Historical Association, as well as a past president of the Kentucky Association of Teachers of History and past chairman of the Kentucky Council on Archives. Authoring numerous publications, he is most proud of his article “Black South and White Appalachia” in the Journal of American History and his instrumental role in building the Kentucky History Center.
