147 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine E dwin Dean Overton graduated with a Bachelor of Theology degree from Midwest Christian College in 1963 with the intentions of becoming a minister and educator. He went on to receive a Master of Arts in religion in 1969 and an Education Specialist degree in 1978, both from Eastern New Mexico University. He became ordained to ministry by the Christian Church in 1978. Mr. Overton retired in 2005, having spent the previous 35 years as an educator of religion, philosophy and counseling at Eastern New Mexico University. He also served as chairman of the religion department. Additionally, Mr. Overton was a minister at the Christian Campus House, Central Christian Church, First Christian Church of Beaver, Oklahoma, and the Christian Church of Englewood, Kansas. Dedicated to finding the answers to the meaning of life after his military service, Mr. Overton also volunteered to civic responsibilities and mission trips, along with remaining involved with his farm-ranch upbringing. He was a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors. He was named Mr. Midwest by the Midwest Christian College and received the Junior Master Farmers Award. Raymond Irvin Myers has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame and a Doctor of Optometry from Indiana University from 1970. In 1977, he was a research fellow at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, England. From 1986 to 2015, Dr. Myers was a clinical professor at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, and has also taught at Washington University and the Louisiana State University. Previously, he was director of career guidance at the American Optometric Association and manager of international professional services at Bausch & Lomb, Inc. Author of more than 50 papers and numerous presentations, Dr. Myers has received 17 patents on laser treatment for presbyopia and other refractive errors in the internal ocular lens, laser treatment for cataract retardation, and a safer contact lens case for programmed limited use. For his efforts in optometry, Dr. Myers was twice awarded the American Optometric Student Association Founders Award in 1973 and 2018, an organization which he was a co-founder in 1968 – he also co-founded the International Society for Contact Lens Research. Dr. Myers has been a member of the American Academy of Optometry and Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, among others.
