150 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine D r. Willie G. Woods received a BA from Shaw University, MEd from Duke University and PhD from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. For more than 40 years, Dr. Woods has worked in higher education. She was most recently the dean of the Division of Arts and Sciences at Chesapeake College inMaryland from1999 to 2011. From1969 to 1999, Dr. Woods was chair, assistant dean, dean, acting vice president and senior professor at Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC). The highlight of Dr. Woods’ career was serving as the acting academic vice president at HACC, where she provided leadership and oversight of faculty and instruction. While at HACC, she designed and directed the nationally-recognized HACC Developmental Education Program. She also had a day named in her honor by Harrisburg Mayor Stephen R. Reed in 1999, upon her retirement from HACC, for distinguished service and educational leadership. Dr. Woods was the recipient of the Women Who Make a Difference Award from the Easton Branch AAUW, the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Caroline County Branch NAACP and the Harriet Tubman Award andMedal from the Talbot County BranchNAACP. Dr. Woods attributes her success to her education, strong work ethic, wonderful support system and the blessings of God.
