Before immigrating, Dr. Ginzburg worked at the Central Research Institute of Communications in Moscow from 1969 to 1980 as an engineer, senior engineer and principal engineer. Dr. Ginzburg ’s achievements include holding four American patents and authoring four books in his field. He has written “Lightwave Transmission Systems,” “Statistical Communication, Second Edition,” “Statistical Communication” and “Waveguides with Descrete Correction.” He was also the editor of “Waveguides for Communications.” Currently residing in Boxborough, Massachusetts, Dr. Ginzburg is the proud father of three children: Irina, Natasha and Michael, and is a grandfather to three grandchildren: Anthony, Jacklyn and Michelle. In his free time, Dr. Ginzburg enjoys cross-country skiing, long- distance biking, running, swimming and hiking. A native of Moscow, Russia, Dr. Simon Ginzburg continuously found himself interested in radio technique. He decided to follow the path of engineering, and he attended the Institute of Radio-Engineering and Electronics in Moscow. He received his Master of Science in 1961 and a PhD eight years later in 1969. After receiving his education and working for some time in Russia, Dr. Ginzburg immigrated to the United States in 1980 in an effort to broaden his horizons within his profession. Most recently, Dr. Ginzburg was lead engineer of MITRE Corp. in Bedford, Massachusetts, from 1997 until his retirement in 2009. MITRE is a non-profit organization that operates multiple federally-funded research and development centers dedicated to solving problems for a safer world. The company aims to provide innovative, practical solutions in defense and intelligence, aviation, civil systems, homeland security, judiciary, health care and cybersecurity spheres. Dr. Ginzburg was a senior member of the technical staff at Racal-Datacom, Inc., from 1992 to 1997, principal engineer at Digital Equipment SIMON GINZBURG, PHD ELECTRICAL ENGINEER (RETIRED) MITRE Corp.
