323 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine D r. Moisey Gamarnik received a Doctor of Science in physics and mathematics from the V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University in the Ukraine in 1992 and is now a distinguished solid state physicist. The most important of Dr. Gamarnik’s many achievements include greatly accordant experimental and theoretical research of size related changes in crystal structure of nanoparticles. Since 2000, Dr. Gamarnik has been a crystallophysicist at Nanoscale Phases Research in Bensalem, Pennsylvania. Dr. Gamarnik has previously worked at the DuPont Pharmaceutical Experimental Station and Instrumentation Technical Associates. From 1995 to 2001, he was an associate professor of materials engineering at Drexel University. In his native Europe, Dr. Gamarnik worked at the Academy of Sciences in Kiev and its Institute of Geochemistry and Physics Minerals as a scientist and researcher between 1962 and 1993. Alongside his duties as a researcher and physicist, Dr. Gamarnik is a member of the International Union of Crystallography and a contributor of articles to the Physics of Solid State, Physical Review, Nanostructural Materials and other journals. SOLID STATE PHYSICIST Nanoscale Phases Research Warminster, PA DR. MOISEY GAMARNIK D r. Jeffrey E. Byrne had his sights set on becoming a medical doctor, but he soon realized that he desired to go into research more than patient care. After this epiphany, Dr. Byrne pursued a degree in pharmacology with a concentration on heart diseases, and he received a BA from the University of North Dakota in 1962. He went on to earn an MA in 1964 and PhD in 1966, both from the University of South Dakota. Dr. Byrne worked at the Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. from 1969 until his retirement in 1994. He served as senior research scientist II, principal research scientist and senior research associate. From 1972 to 1981, Dr. Byrne was adjunct faculty at the Indiana University School of Medicine and Nursing. Post-retirement, Dr. Byrne has spent his time as a computer software programmer, database applications developer and consultant. The advice Dr. Byrne offers individuals aspiring to work in his field is that it is important to pursue new thoughts, as that is what progresses research forward. Dr. Byrne notes that religion has always been important to him, reflecting that it has affected his research and life positively.
