325 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine D r. KennethG. Snetsinger receivedaBachelorof Science in1961,Master of Science in 1962 and PhD in 1966, all from Stanford University. A distinguished mineralogist, his achievements include the discovery of several new minerals, studies of returned lunar samples and analysis of atmospheric aerosols collected at high altitudes. Dr. Snetsinger calls his greatest accomplishment to be mapping several square miles of unknown territory and noting the rocks that were present. After working for NASA’s Ames Research Center for 27 years, Dr. Snetsinger retired from his mineralogist and research scientist positions in 1993. His highlight at NASA was working on sampling stratospheric aerosols, measuring their amount before and after volcanic eruptions, and looking at minerals and compounds. He also worked at Stanford University as an instructor and the U.S. Geological Survey as a research assistant. Additionally, he was a postdoctoral research associate at the National Academy of Sciences. Dr. Snetsinger is a member of the New York Academy of Sciences, American Geophysical Union and Sigma Xi, and was chairman of Source Evaluation Board for three years.
