333 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine A certified project management professional and systems professional, Elizabeth Byam has been the chief operating officer of Advisory Platform Solution since 2009. She has also been a managing partner at BeneTechs since 2018. Ms. Byam notes that it took some different career routes before she figured out her path, and when she was introduced to programming, she found her calling. Ms. Byam received a BA from Georgia State University in 1972 and an MBA from the University of New Mexico in 1997. She also completed postgraduate work at Columbia Southern University. Before securing her current roles, Ms. Byam worked at various other companies between 1973 and 2004, including Government Telecom Inc., Explore Reasoning Systems, Intel Corp., MEB Associates, Computer Dynamics, Southern Airways and the Coastal States Life Insurance Company. Ms. Byam is dedicated to her profession and participates in organizations related to her work. She was a publications director, treasurer, president and national chair of the legislative affairs committee for the Los Angeles chapter of the Project Management Institute of the Data Processing Management Association between 1988 and 1991. From 1985 to 1987, she was president of the Los Angeles chapter of the Association for Women in Computing. Ms. Byam also sat on the board of directors for the Opera Guild of Southern California from 1984 to 1988. The highest point of Ms. Byam’s career was when she was contracted with a company from Pittsburgh that needed a database design for a project involving gas measurement systems. Within four to six weeks, Ms. Byam had felt that the project was too much to handle. However, one day she had a breakthrough and solved the issue. She came up with a working structure that also adapted to all of their other applications. The individuals whom Ms. Byam credits for influencing her are Bob Brown from Computer Dynamics, Juanita Blankenship from the Los Angeles County of Superior Courts and Lois Engelman Reed, the smartest woman she has ever known.
