336 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine A fter becoming an expert in his PhD advisor’s new area of applied probability, Dr. David Lucantoni’s career began as a distinguished technical staff member at Bell Telephone Laboratories in 1981. At Bell Labs, Dr. Lucantoni was the only person who knew methods for solving stochastic properties, and so he was able to solvemore complicated problems than his colleagues. Dr. Lucantoni first received a BS in mathematics from Towson University in 1976. He then obtained an MS in statistics in 1978 and a PhD in mathematics and operations research in 1981, both from the University of Delaware. Switching from mathematics to technology as his career progressed, Dr. Lucantoni has been the principal consultant at DLT Consulting LLC since 1998. He served as vice president, chief technical officer and co-founder of IsoQuantic Technologies LLC from 1994 to 1998. Additionally, Dr. Lucantoni was on the technical staff at Motorola Mobility LLC and was an adjunct professor of computer science at the Stevens Institute of Technology. Dr. Lucantoni has been the recipient of many awards for his contributions to his field. Most recently in 2008, he was the recipient of the Dean’s Recognition Award from the Jess and Mildred Fisher College of Science and Mathematics at Towson University. He also won the Lucent Patent Recognition Award in 2000, the Allan P. Colburn Prize from the University of Delaware in 1982 and the Mary Hudson Scarborough Award for Excellence in Mathematics from Towson University in 1976. Additionally, Dr. Lucantoni was a co-recipient of the Stephen O. Rice Prize Paper Award from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in 1987. Dr. Lucantoni is a senior member and elected fellow of the IEEE, as well as a member of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS), Association for Computing Machinery, Independent Computer Consultants Association and International Teletraffic Congress. He sits on the Industry Advisory Board Wireless Engineering Program at Auburn University and the board of the Alumni Association at Towson University.
