56 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine D on O. Noel Jr.’s journalism career began in seventh grade when he covered his Boy Scout troop for The West Orange Chronicle in New Jersey. Since those early bylines, Mr. Noel was most recently a political columnist of the op-ed page with The Hartford Courant and a senior correspondent and host of WFSB-TV’s “Face the State.” He also served as an editor-in-chief, editorial page editor, assistant managing editor and reporter for The Hartford Times. A recipient of various awards, Mr. Noel was honored with the Sevellon Brown Memorial Award from the New England Associated Press in 1964 and received National Journalism Awards from the American Medical Association in 1972 and the American Society of Planning Officials in 1972 and 1974. Mr. Noel received a BA in American studies from Cornell University in 1954. Following his retirement in 1997, Mr. Noel returned to college and obtained an MFA in creative writing from Fairfield University in 2013. He is the author of “Near a Far Sea: A Jamaican Odyssey,” published in 2006. Likewise, he has authored more than 60 short stories in literary magazines and anthologies. EDITOR, COLUMNIST, AUTHOR (RETIRED) Hartford Courant Bloomfield, CT F elicia Boillot Muftic received a BA from Northwestern University in 1960, and then quickly dove into the world of journalism and government. A writer since she was 4 years old, Ms. Muftic has been a political columnist at Winter Park Times since 2019, also serving as a partner of Melem Wholesale and Distribution since 2004. Previously, Ms. Muftic was a political columnist at Sky-Hi Daily News, consultant of consumer affairs in Denver and special projects director at Consumer Credit Counseling. She also worked as a clerk and recorder for Denver, talk show host for 710-KNUS and executive director of the Metro District Attorney’s Consumer Office. The highlight of Ms. Muftic’s career was her run for mayor of Denver in 1979. Despite being the runner up, she is proud to be the first woman mayoral candidate for the city. Her journalism career has been reputable as well; Ms. Muftic led an investigation on the destitute who were proven to be paying more for groceries in lower income areas of Denver. Ms. Muftic was named Media Person of Year and was the recipient of the Outstanding Contributions in Consumer Affairs Award in 1982. POLITICAL COLUMNIST Winter Park Times Winter Park, CO DON O.
