87 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine in the high jump. She was compelled to excel in every sport she tried, which led her to perform college-level volleyball, softball, and track and field. In 1975, she graduated from Black Hawk College with an AA, and in 1978, a BS in physical education from Southern Illinois University. She is certified in kindergarten through 12th grade. Ms. Fahlberg became a physical education teacher in 1980 with a position at the Egyptian Unit School in Tamms, Illinois. She moved on to the Tri-Country Education Center in Anna, Illinois, where she was an adaptive physical education teacher and coach. Between 1988 and 1992, she was introduced to teaching as a learning disabilities resource and physical education teacher at Anna-Jonesboro Community High School. She felt a connection to this new group of students and soon became certified in emotional and behavioral disorders and learning disabilities to educate the mentally disabled. She was also a special education teacher at Goreville Unit School and Carbondale Community High School until her retirement in 2011. Ms. Fahlberg feels fortunate to have received two awards in 2008. She was named Member of the Year by the Fitness Forum Gym for her 14 years of loyalty, and she was recognized for her athletic achievements at Southern Illinois University. She was one of several women covering six decades who were honored. Each female athlete was given a framed “letter” from the university. The highlight of Ms. Fahlberg’s career was when her junior high softball team earned first place in the Illinois 1983 Large Class L Division. Throughout her life, Ms. Fahlberg owes great appreciation and credit to the Mitchell family, who showed her what a healthy family dynamic is and for encouraging her to always achieve her best. S ince the fifth grade, Sheree L. Fahlberg knew that she wanted to pursue physical education due to her love for sports. During her senior year of high school, she participated on the track and field team. By season’s end, she qualified to go to the Illinois first state girls’ track and field competition in Charleston, earning sixth place EDUCATION SHEREE L.
