He was also involved in writing two manuscripts, “The Controller’s Function in Office Cost Control” and “Decision Making: The Auditor’s Use of Statistical Sampling.” He attributes his success to the encouragement from his wife, Carolyn, and parents, Wayne and Agnes (Fisher) Cooper. Mr. Cooper was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants, American Management Association, Institute of Management Accountants, American Accounting Association, American Beverage Association, National Association of College and University Business Officers, Western Association of College and University Business Officers, and Sigma Phi Epsilon. He is a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Sons of the Revolution, and the Society of Colonial Wars, among others. E njoying bookkeeping since high school, Gene A. Cooper was a certified public accountant in Ohio, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He received a BS from Bowling Green State University in 1958 and anMBA from the University of Toledo in 1960. From 1995 until his retirement in 2001, Mr. Cooper was the dean of finance and administration and chief financial officer at Marymount College. Previously a controller for Custom Building Products, he also served Westinghouse Electric Corporation for two decades. At Westinghouse, he served as senior internal auditor, staff assistant of financial policies and procedures, staff assistant of external financial reporting, and senior vice president and controller for the Beverage Group. Earlier in his career, Mr. Cooper was an auditor at Arthur Young & Co. in Toledo, Ohio, from 1960 to 1964, assistant to the controller and administrative assistant at Princeton University from 1964 to 1967, and chief accountant and controller of Kenyon College from 1967 to 1969. Additionally, he taught accounting and finance at Bowling Green State University, The University of Toledo, Rider College and the University of Phoenix.
