218 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine A s a 3 year old, Dr. B. Thomas Brown contracted polio and was limited to life in a sanitarium for nine months. His doctors said when a child of his age is in an environment in which they are not comfortable, they will either identify with it or reject it. Dr. Brown certainly identified with the medical field after this experience, as he is now a renowned urologist. He became a diplomate of the American Board of Urology in 1980 and holds medical licenses in West Virginia and Florida. Dr. Brown was a student at Johns Hopkins University and received an MD from the West Virginia University School of Medicine in 1973. There, he was a surgical intern and a resident in medicine. Dr. Brown completed a second residency in urology at the University of Miami in 1978. In 1997, Dr. Brown obtained an MBA from the University of South Florida. Dr. Brown worked at his private practice from 1978 until his retirement in 2016. He previously worked at Atlantic Urological Associates from 1990 to 2014 and was chief of urology at the Halifax Medical Center from 1982 to 1984. Dr. Brown also worked at the Memorial Hospital of Ormond Beach as chief of staff from 1986 to 1987 and chief of surgery from 1980 to 1982. Dr. Brown’s first position was with the Daytona Beach Urology Clinic from 1978 to 1990. In addition to his work at various hospitals and clinics, Dr. Brown has co-authored and contributed his research to multiple creative works on urology and related areas. Since 1979, he has been a clinical assistant professor at the University of South Florida and a surveyor for the American Association for Ambulatory Health Care. Dr. Brown has been associated with multiple organizations. He has been chairman of the committee on applicants of the central Florida chapter of the American College of Surgeons and served on the board of directors of the American Urological Association. He has been past president of the Volusia County Medical Society, the Florida Urological Society, and the Southeastern Section of the American Urological Society. B.
