219 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine O riginally a nursing student, Dr. Rosemary Christine Ciullo was turned off to how poorly nurses were treated. After some soul searching, Dr. Ciullo stumbled upon child psychology and fell in love with the work. She received a BA from the University of Illinois Chicago in 1974, an MA from Governors State University in 1977 and a PsyD in psychology, with high distinction, from the Forest Institute of Professional Psychology in 1986. In 2005, Dr. Ciullo also completed coursework in child and adult psychology at the International College of Professional Psychology. At the inception of her career, Dr. Ciullo worked at St. Ann’s Hospital from 1969 to 1980 and Ada McKinley Foster Care from 1974 to 1977. In 1977, she worked for the Institute for Psychiatric Behavioral Research. For six years from 1987 to 1993, she worked at Henry Horner Children’s Center before dedicating her time to a joint private practice beginning in 1995. In her practice, Dr. Ciullo believes if you treat people with dignity and respect, then you will receive dignity and respect back. Dr. Ciullo attributes her success to Dr. Carmen Posner, her supervisor during her practicum training. Other mentors Dr. Ciullo credits to her success include several teachers, nuns and therapists who helped her through personal obstacles and gave her the confidence to be where she is now. Alongside her medical career, Dr. Ciullo is the co-author of the articles “Small Group Interaction and Behavior in Latency-Age Children” and “Difference in Behavior in Latency Age Children,” and co-founded the graphic newsletter at the Forest Institute. Additionally, she is a published poet. Dr. Ciullo is a member of the American Psychological Association, American Association of Suicidology, Association for Psychological Science and the American Orthopsychiatric Association. Among her civic duties, Dr. Ciullo has been involved with the Cursillo Group and Women’s Choice Services, and charities with Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, Ronald McDonald House Charities and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).
