Since 2004, he has also been a visiting professor in several institutions in China, including the Third Military Medical University, Anhui Provincial Hospital, Nanjing University School of Medicine, and Henan Provincial People’s Hospital. Dr. Jose was also chair of the Cardiovascular and Renal Study Section B and Hypertension and Microcirculation Study Sections of the National Institutes of Health. In the 1970s, patients traveled from all over the United States and abroad toGeorgetownUniversity for kidney treatment thanks to Dr. Jose and his team. Out of all of Dr. Jose’s accomplishments, he is most proud to have treated babies born prematurely with kidney failure. Some premature babies suffer fromkidney failure andmust undergo peritoneal dialysis for survival. For his service to the advancement of medicine, Dr. Jose has been the recipient of numerous awards. Most recently, the American Heart Association Council on Hypertension presented him with the 2015 Excellence Award for Hypertension Research, and the University of Santo Tomas Alumni Association of America gave himtheAchievement Award in2004, 2008and2013. He also received the 2003 Lewis K. Dahl Memorial Lecture from the American Heart Association and the 2007 Ernest H. Starling Distinguished Lecture from the American Physiological Society. He was the recipient of the Manggagamot Award from the Philippine Medical Association and the Pamana ng Pilipino Award from the President of the Philippines. Dr. Jose is a member of the American Society of Hypertension and American Society of Nephrology. He was president of the American Society of Pediatric Nephrology and is a fellow of the Council on High Blood Pressure Research of the American Heart Association. I nspired by the work of local herbal physicians in his native Philippines, Dr. Pedro A. Jose is now a renowned nephrologist specializing in hypertension. He received an MD, magna cum laude, from the University of Santo Tomas in 1965 and a PhD from Georgetown University in 1976. In 1983, Dr. Jose became a professor of pediatrics DR. PEDRO A.
