231 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine K nowing she wanted a career in which she could help people, Dr. Renny Darling Klein turned to the field of psychology. She received a BA in 1966 and MA in 1970, both from San Fernando Valley State College. In 1973, Dr. Klein received an MFCC license from the University of Southern California and a PhD in counseling psychology from Pacific Western University in 2002. At the inception of her career in 1970, Dr. Klein worked with the Benjamin Rush Crisis Center, Los AngelesPsychiatricClinicand theBayCitiesMental Health Center of Los Angeles until 1973. From there, she established her own private practice in Beverly Hills, California, until her retirement in 1990. A member of PEN America, she credits her success to her parents, who taught her to correct problems as they arise. Today, she owes her drive and heart to her three children – Joseph, Jeffrey and Deborah – and her six grandchildren: Rachael, Josh, Max, Addison, Ryland and Amorette. Dr. Klein has worked with mentally ill patients and has helped bring them to a place where they have sought to improve themselves. She made sure her patients never left her office unhappy, and credits that to her passion to finding the root of the problem. Many clinics and counseling services were interested in Dr. Klein’s methods and wanted her to be a part of their services, and so for a number of years she lectured around the greater Los Angeles area. A prominent writer as well, Dr. Klein is the author of “The Joy of Eating,” “Great Beginnings and Happy Endings,” “With Love from Darling’s Kitchen,” “Happy Holidays andGreat Celebrations” and “These are a Few of Your Favorite Things.” She is currentlywriting her next book, “Sweet Dreams.” Notably, she has contributed to several charitable organizations, including as a touring docent for the L.A. County Art Museum, various administrative roles for Hassadah of Southern California, and program chair and hospitality chair for the PTA.
