201 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine D uring his years at Brooklyn Technical High School, Lenell Lucas discovered his passion for mathematics. Later on, when he pursued college courses at Howard University and was a clerk at the U.S. Post Office in Washington, D.C., he decided that a career in accounting would be his future. He is now certified in defense financial management. However, Mr. Lucas had to put his dreams on hold for some time to serve in the U.S. Army. It turned out to be a great opportunity, as his G.I. Bill covered the cost of college and he received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Baruch College in New York in 1982. Additionally, Mr. Lucas took accounting courses at Rutgers University College in Newark, New Jersey. Mr. Lucas worked as an accountant with the U.S. Department of Defense for 21 years until his retirement in 2007. Working for the federal government at the Military Traffic Management Command, Mr. Lucas credits the accounting courses he took at Rutgers for qualifying him for the job. He also attributes his success to listening, learning and having the desire to be the best he could be in his career. Since his retirement, Mr. Lucas has invented the Fruitsuit Card Game. He is in the process of having the card game made into applications that will be available for all mobile devices. Mr. Lucas hopes to produce a successful Fruitsuit Card Game for people of all ages to enjoy. In his spare time, he enjoys being a disc jockey, traveling and watching sports. Impressively, when he was 15 years old, Mr. Lucas played Beethoven on the cello with the New York City All High School Orchestra. Mr. Lucas is a member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
