205 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine B ecoming involved in politics from a young age, Charles Ronald Mansolillo received a BA from St. Michael’s College in Colchester, Vermont, in 1971 and a JD from Suffolk University in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1985. Additionally, Mr. Mansolillo attended the Weston Jesuit School of Theology from 1997 to 1999. Commencing his career in politics as a member of the Rhode Island House of Representatives, Mr. Mansolillo later served as a councilman of Providence from 1975 to 1983. He then served as chief of staff to Mayor Buddy Cianci before spending time with the Department of Children and Families and the Office of Housing, Energy and Intergovernmental Relations. From 1990 to 2003, Mr. Mansolillo was the director of the Governor’s Policy Office, deputy city solicitor to the city and city solicitor for 11 years. In 2003, he was named city solicitor emeritus. With a vibrant career, Mr. Mansolillo is proud of his years advocating for city employees, dealing with controversy between the city and the city union, and making changes for employees’ retirement plans. Mr. Mansolillo was formerly a member of the Narragansett Bay Commission, the Providence Home Rule Charter Commission, and the Rhode Island League of Cities and Towns. He was also the Republican nominee for Mayor of Providence in 1986 and sat on the board of directors of the Providence Community Action Program and Providence Industrial Development Corporation. Mr. Mansolillo was also a trustee of the Providence Public Library and, using his theological school skills, a lector for St. Pius V of Providence. Mr. Mansolillo is proud of his friendship and working relationship as chief of staff for Mayor Buddy Cianci. His mentor was Judge William McGair, who came to work for him after his retirement. Mr. Mansolillo’s advice to those aspiring to work in his industry is to stay committed to the common good and do the best you can.
