57 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine D r. Stanley E. Schumacher joined his school band program when he was just 11, and since then music has taken ahold of his life. He attended Butler University, where he received a MusB and MusM in 1964 and 1966, respectively. In 1976, he obtained a PhD from The Ohio State University. A composer and trombonist of nearly 50 years, Dr. Schumacher’s teaching career began in 1978. He has taught at the Community College of Rhode Island, the University of Pikeville, County College of Morris and Lafayette College. He was also a private lesson teacher from 1981 to 2000. Additionally, Dr. Schumacher is currently the president of Musikmacher Productions and artistic director of Music Now Ensemble. A composer of “Brassman,” “Musography,” “No Technique” and “Symmetries,” among other compositions, Dr. Schumacher is a member of the American Federation of Musicians, International Trombone Association and the American Composers Forum. Dr. Schumacher’s advice to others aspiring to break into the music world is to learn to distinguish between what is permanent and what is ephemeral; listening to European classical music will help accomplish this ability. He enjoys travel and photography in his spare time. COMPOSER, TROMBONIST, EDUCATOR Musikmacher Productions Bethlehem, PA F rom his mother singing hymns, to his aunt playing the auto-harp, Dwight Alexander Peirce Jr. fell in love with music as a child. He went on to receive a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music in piano performance, both from the University of Cincinnati’s College Conservatory of Music. Since 1982, Mr. Peirce has been an instructor and lecturer in piano accompaniment at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. In addition to teaching, Mr. Peirce is an organist at Wesley United Methodist Church and Temple Emanuel. He is a past dean of the Beaumont chapter of The American Guild of Organists and was an organist for Beaumont’s First Methodist Choir’s tour of Italy in 2006 and tour of Spain in 2008. Mr. Peirce has also been part of the Beaumont Interfaith Choir, Beaumont Civic Opera, Beaumont Community Players and the Symphony of Southeast Texas. Mr. Peirce hopes to be remembered for sharing his talents freely so that others could pass on their abilities down the line of history. He was the recipient of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia’s 1996 Orpheus Award and the Southeast Texas Art Council’s 1998 Arts Award. MUSIC EDUCATOR Lamar University Beaumont, TX STANLEY E.
