285 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine J oel D. Siegal chose to enter law because he always had an interest in government, politics, and his admiration for his father, who was a lawyer. In 1958, Mr. Siegal graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a BA in political science. He received his JD from the Yale Law School in 1961 and obtained an MA in international relations from Stockholm University in 1963. Mr. Siegal has been a partner at Hellring Lindeman Goldstein & Siegal LLP in Newark, New Jersey, since 1970. He concentrates his practice on significant family law matters, as well as complex litigation in federal and state courts. He has substantial experience in representing clients, including divorce actions, commercial and estate litigation, shareholder and partnership disputes, and breach of fiduciary obligation. He previously served as law clerk to Judge Arthur S. Lane of the U.S. District Court of New Jersey from 1961 to 1962 and to Judge Phillip Forman of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit from 1963 to 1964. He is admitted to practice in New Jersey and New York. In 1991, the Governor of New Jersey appointed Mr. Siegal as a Commissioner to the National Conference of Commissioners of Uniform State Laws. The same year, he was a member of the Drafting Committee of the Uniform Interstate Family Support Act, which was enacted with some modifications throughout the United States of America. Mr. Siegal was awarded an AV Preeminent Rating, the highest possible rating in both legal ability and ethical standards, by Martindale-Hubbell. Mr. Siegal is a former president of the Association of the Federal Bar of New Jersey and has served on the United States District Court Lawyers Advisory Committee. He is a member of the Bergen County Bar Association, Essex County Bar Association and New Jersey State Bar Association, and is a lifetime fellow of the American Bar Foundation. Mr. Siegal was a proud participant and speaker in the Media/Bench/ Bar Dialogue “The Big Trial as a Media Event,” sponsored by Rutgers Law School pursuant to a grant from the S.I.
